Our upcycling process is simple in concept but requires a high level of skill to produce a quality end result.
We start by selecting images from our own collection of negatives and positive film, photographs, postcards, printed items and recent digital media.
The images are one off, historically authentic and unique because the original content was produced by using cameras - some over 100 years ago - and not generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
After some light cleaning, the images are scanned to produce a digital copy of the original.
Most images need some form of renovation to remove marks, creases, rips, fading etc., so the images then undergo a refurbishment process using a combination of skill and digital resources to "repair" initial damage and progress further to enhance the detail and definition.
Our overall aim is to retain the authenticity of the initial image whilst producing a clean, crisp, high quality image which is ready for printing as seen in typical examples below.

Before retailing our own images, we started out in general photography and restoring old photographic images for customers who wanted to save photographs before they deteriorated beyond repair and lost forever.
Our business started as PRAPS (Photography, Restoration And Preservation Services) and remains in operation today.
The process used for restoration is the same as described above using photographs, negatives and slides sent to us by customers - the originals are always returned unaltered.
In this case, we normally provide a quality digital image which clients can then get printed on paper, mugs, calendars, photo-books, coasters, place mats, mouse mats etc.
If you have some images that you would like to be repaired, upgraded or simply made into a digital format then please go to our PRAPS website and see what we may be able to do for you via this link: www.praps.co.uk
